Collation
Quires of mostly 8 leaves each, marked with catchwords at the end (nearly entirely cut away).
Condition
Ink considerably worn off (roughly retouched on folios 1-14).

Uniform layout, with varying number of lines in the margin.
Visible pricking and hard-point ruling.
Initial words are written in larger characters. Some initial words are highlighted in red ink (see folios 2r, 3r, 55r, 56r, 57r, 98r, etc.).
Hair side and flesh side are distinguishable.
Most of the margins are occupied with the commentary. The margin left by the scribe for commentary has on some pages been left blank.
Parts of the main text are written in red ink, see e.g. folios 168v, 172v, 177r, etc.
The commentary in the margin takes various geometrical and decorative shapes, see e.g. folios 99v, 103v, 109v, 125v, 137v, 161v, etc.

Giuseppe Almanzi (b. 1801, d. 1860), bibliophile; his manuscript no. 323: his library including 322 medieval Hebrew manuscripts were purchased en bloc by the British Museum in October 1865 for £1,000 through Asher & Co., Berlin dealer to the British Museum (see [Paisey_1997] 131-153: inscribed, back flyleaf (ii)v.
