Leaves from the Luaḥ li-shenat 494 published in Sulzbach: ff. 1 (title page), 2 (tishri), 9 (ḥeshṿan), 16 (kisleṿ), 23 (ṭevet), 30 (shevaṭ), 37 (adar), 44 (adar sheni), 48 (nisan), 55 (iyar), 62 (siṿan), 69 (tamuz), 76 (av), 83 (elul), 90-93 (ff. 90r-91v: sefirot ha-ʿomer, ff. 92v-93v: birkhat ha-levanah).

Mentions the places: Hamburg (e.g. f. 5), Leipzig, the state of Bohemia (מדינת פיהם) and the community of Prague.

Printed leaves from the calendar of the year [5]494 (in 1733/4), which was printed in Sulzbach, are bound between the leaves of the manuscript.

Notes in Yiddish mentioning family and public events in the margins.

Ff. 94-118 are loose leaves. They probably used to be in a small pocket fixed onto the back pastedown.

Provenance and Acquisition

Moses Gaster (b. 1856, d. 1939), scholar and rabbi: his manuscript, Cod. G. 1003; purchased by the British Museum from him on 12 April, 1924; date of accession 23 May 1930.
