Contains the pointed and accentuated biblical text in Arabic characters, accompanied by an Arabic translation and a commentary.

A number of masoretic notes.

The diacritic points are generally added.

Follows a simple phonetic method of transcription.

Author: Japheth ben Ali, ha-Levi, active 10th century יפת בן עלי, הלוי
Filiation: Cf. a similar handwriting in London, BL, Or 2554 no. 301, which is dated 1004-1005.

Collation

Originally consisting of two parts, each having its quires separately numbered.

Substantial lacunae after folios: 1, 7, 8, 10, 11, 12, 14, 16, 26, 36, 37, 39, 88, 96, 137, 139, 141, 143, 149, 153, 155, 157, 159, 165, 175.

Condition

Several of the extant folios have been more or less damaged.

Additions:

Moses Wilhelm Shapira (b. 1830, d. 1884), an antiquities dealer of Jerusalem: purchased by the British Library from him on 08 July 1882: inscribed, back flyleaf (i)v.
