Each pericope is divided into 7 sections numbered with Hebrew letters in the margin or in the text itself.

Masorah magna usually occupies two lines in the upper and two lines in the lower margin.
In the Hafṭarot the upper and lower margin is occupied by midrashic comments in Hebrew and partly in Arabic (in Hebrew characters).
