Origin: 1286 GermanyProvenance and Acquisition
Ya῾aḳov ben Ya῾aḳov Sason: inscribed with his name on folio 229r: לעולם יכתו' אדם שמו על ספרו.
Wolf Leib: inscribed with his name on folio 228v, dated 5378 (1588).
Binyamin bar Yo᾿el: inscribed with his name, in red ink, on folio 229r.
John van der Hagen; a dedication in a from of a Hebrew poem by Christian Meir on folio 2v, dated in Amsterdam, 1726.
Adam Clarke (b. 1762, d. 1832), Wesleyan Methodist minister and scholar: his inscription in Latin (folio 1r); manuscript acquired by him at Utrecht in 1823. His bookplate with Greek inscription: ‘ho theos agape estin’ (folio [i verso]). This codex, together with nine other manuscripts (Add MS 9398-9407), was acquired by the British Museum in 1834, once the property of the Hagen family and then bought by Adam Clarke.
