Collation
4 quires: i-iv8, v10, vi-vii8, viii6, ix-xii8, .
Signature at the beginning of each quire in Eastern Arabic numerals. First legible signature on f. 9r = quire 22. This suggests that 20 quires are missing from the beginning of the manuscript. Signature on quire ix (ff. 69-76) is 29, while on quire x (ff. 77-84)is 31, so according to the signatures, one quire is missing after f. 76.
Condition
Usage stains.
Iron gall ink corrosion, very fragile leaves.

Each folio ends with "תם".
Section headings are written in larger, square characters.

Oriental Hebrew semi-cursive and square script of the 17th-18th century.
Decoration
Additions:At the end of each tune are piyutim which were added by a later hand.

Title on spine: 'שירת ותשבחות 292'.

Ownership inscriptions: "הצעיר דוד סיתהון הי"ו תושב עה"ק שכם ת"ו" (f. 60r); "לעולם יכתיב אדם שמו על ספרו אני הצעיר ניסם אבכונה" (f. 66r).
Moses Gaster (b. 1856, d. 1939), scholar and rabbi: his manuscript, Cod. G. 292; purchased by the British Museum from him on 12 April, 1924; date of accession 7 March 1928.
