Decoration

Additions:

Ff. 70v-72v: a prayer for the priests, composed by Pinhas ben Eleazar. It was copied in 1224 AH (1809).

Note in pencil on front flyleaf (v)v: 'The Book of Leviticus - 200 piasters'.

Binding

Oriental flap-binding, brown leather, blind-tooled. Arabic inscription on the front cover in ink. Boxed.

Title on spine: 'Liber Levitici. Samaritan. Brit. Mus. Jure Empt. 19,014.'

Provenance and Acquisition

James Finn (1806–1872), an Arabic and Hebrew scholar, consul at Jerusalem: inscribed on back flyleaf (i)v: 'Purchased of John (sic!) Finn Esq. Consul at Jerusalem Sept 1852'.
