Samaritan Pentateuch (Genesis-Exodus)
Contents
First volume of a Samaritan Pentateuch (Genesis-Exodus)
Language(s): Samaritan
ff. 1v-151rTitle: תורה שומרוניתTitle: Torah Shomronit (Bereshit-Shemot)First volume of a two-volume set; for volume 2, see [BL] Or 5040.
After each book there is a list of lections for the annual cycle of reading the law.
Copied by Jacob ben Aaron, who became the High Priest in 1875 in succession to his uncle.
The colophons at the end of both volumes indicate, that this is Jacob ben Aaron's fifteenth Torah. Since the scribe was exceptionally prolific in restoring and renovating manuscripts, as well as in copying older manuscripts and composing new works, he may not always have counted his restorations as beging from his pen.
