Language(s): Persian and ArabicCollection of Sufi, religious, historical and morally edifying anecdotes and tales by the Timurid litterateur and author of the Rashaḥāt ʿayn al-ḥayāt, Fakhr al-Dīn ʿAlī ibn Kamāl al-Dīn Ḥusayn al-Vāʿiẓ al-Kāshifī, known as Ṣafī (d. 939/1532).
Written after a year-long siege of Hirāt (Herat) in praise of a Naṣīr al-Dīn Ẓahīr al-Millah Shāh Muḥammad Sulṭān, and in a simple prose style with poetry for the delight of his élite and common contemporaries.
The work comprises fourteen chapters termed bāb.
Dated colophon (f. 205r): completed by Ḥabīb Allāh in the house of Fayyāz̤ Khān for Lālah Dhavār (?) Singh, on Sunday, 22 Ramaz̤ān in RY 18 of Emperor Muḥammad Shāh, 114[9]/24 January 1737.
Rough scribal nastaʿlīq and shikastah āmīz by multiple hands.
Stamped and pencil foliation.
Lacking original binding.
Paper dust wrapper (BEIC legal publication on Regulation II for 1819); torn and stained.
Folios unbound, cropped; stains, wormholes, later repairs along gutter.
Condition fragile.
