Fragments of a manuscript, which was once a complete Pentateuch. Previously rolled up incorrectly as scrolls.

A surviving portion of a tashqil, starting in Deuteronomy indicates the name of the scribe.

Not included into the catalogue the National Library of Israel.

Contains: Exodus 25:5-26:10, 28:29-30:33, 30:38-34:7, 36:23-end of Exodus.

Contains: Leviticus 1:1-10:15.

Origin: 1450-1499 2nd half of the 15th century. Crown: the manuscript can be dated to the known period of activity of the scribe (1469-1481). Syria (Damascus)

Provenance and Acquisition

F. 9v, upside down: 'The Book of Exodus of the Samaritan Pentateuch. Bought by the Revd. Fred｢eric｣k Howlett from Nablus 1857 A.D.'

Deposit 1218, dated 17 April 1978, brought in by Mr Peter Bridge of London.
