Gan ha-meshalim ṿeha-ḥidot by Todros Abulafia
Contents
Dīwān or collected poems.
Language(s): Hebrew
ff. 1v-345vTitle: גן המשלים והחידותTitle: Gan ha-meshalim ṿeha-ḥidotIt was copied from a seventeenth-century Egyptian manuscript, which was eventually acquired by Saul Abdallah Joseph (1849-1906), a Baghdadi Jewish businessman and amateur scholar. Joseph made a copy of the manuscript and brought it back to his home in Hong Kong (see Wacks, Double Diaspora pp. 64-66).
Date is added several times throughout the manuscript, in pencil (e.g. ff. 125r).
Saul Abdallah Joseph prepared the manuscript for publication, but it was only published posthumous by David Yellin (see Evri and Behar, 'Between East and West', p. 299).
According to the Catalogue of the Hebrew and Samaritan Manuscripts, vol. IV, it is dated to 1889.
