In original binding, autograph score in black ink, with annotations in blue pencil, red ink and pencil:
- f. 1. Autograph front label: 'Violin Sonata / (original MS) / by ES'.
- f. 2. Front fly leaf with two inscriptions: (1) in German, in Smyth's hand in black ink, to 'Herrm Brodsky' [Adolph Brodsky] as the best interpreter (1888); (2) 'To Daisy Pembridge with love from her friend Adelina de Lara / July 1955'.
- f. 3. Title page in Smyth's hand, with additional inscriptions. Written above the title and also in Smyth's hand, a dedication: 'Frau Lili Wach / geb. Mendelssohn Bartholdy'. There is a further inscription, in black ink in another hand and also in German, at the upper right of the page (dated '27/5/[18]87'), referring to the delivery of the manuscript for printing. At the top of the page: 'Presented to Adelina de Lara by the family of Ethel Smyth after her death'.
- ff. 3v-11. Allegro moderato. Signed (f. 3v). Small pasted-down correction (f. 4).
- ff. 11v-16. Scherzo. Allegro vivace. Two small pasted-down corrections (ff. 13 and 14).
- ff. 16v-21. Romanze. Andante grazioso. 'Dante. Inf. V 121'.
- ff. 21v-27. Allegro vivace.
