Contents
Language(s): Sanskrit
Author: Mādhava Deva, of Kāśī, son of Lakśmaṇa Deva, and grandson of Mādhava Deva, of Dhārāsūra, a town on the banks of the Godā. He is the author of the NyāyasāraTitle: Tarkabhāśāsāramañjarī, also called Tarkaprakāśa, a commentary on the TarkabhāśāIncipit: natvā viśvaraṃ devaṃ gurūṃ śrīlakṣmaṇābhidhaṃ | guḍhāyāstarkabhāṣāyā bhāve vyākhyāyate mayā||१||ff. 1v-1vExplicit: śrīmanmādhavadeva ityabhihito nyāyāmbudheḥ pāragaḥ sacchiṣyān svasutādavipriyakaraḥ saddharmavaryāgraṇīḥ|kāśīpaṇḍitamaṇḍalīṣu vilasanmadvākyavṛndaḥ sadā tasyāyaṃ bhuvi rājate hyatitarāṃ tarkaprakāśaḥ sadā [godātīrasthaḥ]|| [....]ff. 81v-81vMādhava Deva often refers to his Nyāyasāra for a fuller exposition of his views (vistarastu nyāyasāre draṣṭavyaḥ fol.50a). He often rejects Gaurīkānta's explanations, generally introducing them by gaurīkāṃtastu. Other authorities he quotes are: Govardhana, Rudra Bhaṭṭācārya, Mūrāri Miśrāḥ, Bhaṭṭa, the Cintāmaṇi or Maṇi, the Dīdhiti, the Līlāvatīprakāśadīdhiti. The quotations are for the most part pointed out by marginal notes in Colebrooke's handwriting.
The pramāṇa section ends fol.43b, the prameya section fol.77a.
The final couplets are nearly the same as in the Bhāvārthadīpikā.
