Origin: 1700-1799 18th century FranceProvenance and Acquisition
Ownership inscriptions in French by the same hand on ff. 20r, 51v, 58r, 62r, 81v. They all dated Nîmes 1805 (22-24 September), and say more or less the same: 'Ce livre appartient aux frères Bedarride(?) fait à Nismes le 24me vendèmiaire an 13me correspondant à l'an 1805 (vieux stille). Signé Samuel' (f. 51v). On f. 51v the same inscription in repeated written with the left hand: '...fait par la main gauche ... Et par la main droite. Samuel'.
Ownership inscription in Hebrew by the same Samuel, dated 5564 (1803/4) on f. 52r: שמואל בן ר’ גד דיבידארידוש שנת ה’תקס"ד
Moses Gaster (b. 1856, d. 1939), scholar and rabbi: his manuscript, Cod. G. 165; purchased by the British Museum from him on 12 April, 1924; date of accession 3 October 1927.
