- Title:
- Sabab-i taqviyat al-taḥṣīl va najāt-i taṣnī‘ al-vaqt - سبب تقوية التحصيل ونحات تصنيع الوقت
- Scope & Content:
-
A Turki-Arabic-Persian lexicon, written by Muḥammad Karīm al-Bulghārī for students going from Qazan to Bukhara, likely in the first quarter of the 19th century CE. The work contains a collection of words common among the Tajiks of Bukhara and among the Kazakhs and Kyrgyz, but not heard among the Tatars of Qazan.
The preface of the work is in Arabic, but the remainder is explained with reference to Tatar.
The text is divided into 26 abvāb preceded by 9 explanatory sections called fā'idah (ff 2r-38r), the first of which is in Ottoman Turkish.
The first word to be explained is 'apturatmak' 'to surprise'. The work contains many marginal glosses.
This manuscript is undated, but was likely copied in the 19th century CE.
