History
Origin: 1350-1399 Mid-late 14th centuryProvenance and Acquisition
Deed of sale on f. 58v: it was inherited by the vendor who had shares in it from his aunt in 839 AH, that is, 1435 CE. The manuscript was acquired by Matanah ben Negamah of the Ḳabasah family from Rabatun, the daughter of Abraham ben Sadaḳah of Gaza. Rabatun had inherited 60% of the manuscript from her father. (for more details, see Crown, pp. 201-202).
Moses Gaster (b. 1856, d. 1939), scholar and rabbi: his manuscript, Cod. G. 806; purchased by the British Museum from him on 12 April, 1924; date of accession 14 March 1930.
