Moses Gaster (b. 1856, d. 1939), scholar and rabbi: his manuscript, Cod. G. 400; purchased by the British Museum from him on 12 April, 1924; date of accession 16 March 1928.

F. 7v: אלו ... פרקי' בחכמת החן הוצאתי כלליהם מתוך ספר כתוב יש שבו ראיתי כתב יד הגאון המקובל כמוהר"ר מנחם עזריה מפאנו זלה"ה מרייו שנפטר בעיר מנטובה ארץ מולדתי ונקבר שם והיה תלמידו של הרב כמוהר"ר עזריה מפאנו איש מנטובה זלה"ה ואני הייתי תלמידו של הרמעף הנל' בחכמה זו קצת על פה וקצת בכתב והיה כתוב בס' שהעתקתי ממו שהם ליקוטי הקדמון מיוחסי' אל החכם השלפ כמוהר"ר שלמה אלקבץ ז"ל ואני קצרתי הלשון... הצעיר שמואל שער אריה בכמה"ר אלישע ומרת רחל קסיס זלה"ה ממנטובה ... . This note mentions Solomon Alkabeẓ (1505-1576) and Menahem Azariah de Fano (1548-1620) as deceased, it is clear that the work was written after 1620.
F. 8r is a table of content of Gallico's ʿAsis rimonim.

Signatures in Roman numerals at the beginning of the quires. The first extant signature on f. 9r = numbered as quire 2. This shows that at least one quire is missing from the beginning.
