Provenance and Acquisition

Moses Gaster (b. 1856, d. 1939), scholar and rabbi: his manuscript, Cod. G. 1379; purchased by the British Museum from him on 12 April, 1924; date of accession 3 February 1932.

Among the subjects dealt with are the tripartite division of the universe, the ten levels of the angels, the purpose of the aggadot, and the transmission of the oral law. Chapter 5 deals with the knowledge of the soul, and includes a diagram.
