Japanese folding album containing 24 colour paintings. 12 illustrations represent the months of the year with poems on the theme of birds by Fujiwara Teika in the calligraphy of nobles and court officials. The calligrapher's name and/or title is given on a paper slip alongside each painting.
Shōgatsu 正月: Kanpaku 関白 [=Konoe Motohiro 近衛基煕 (1648-1722)]; Nigatsu 二月: Shōren'in no Miya 青蓮院宮 [=Sonshō hosshinnō尊証法親王 (1651-1694)]; Sangatsu 三月: Kikutei Saki no Dainagon 菊亭前大納言 [=Imadegawa Koresue 今出川伊季 (1660-1709)]; Shigatsu 四月: Otagi Saki no Chūnagon 愛宕前中納言 [=Otagi Michitomi 愛宕通福 (1634-1699)]; Gogatsu 五月: Jimyōin Saki no Chūnagon 持明院前中納言 (=Jimyōin Mototoki 持明院基時 (1635-1704)); Rokugatsu 六月: Asukai Sanmi 飛鳥井三位 [=Asukai Masatoyo 飛鳥井雅豊 (1664-1712)]; Shichigatsu 七月: Niwata Saki no Chūnagon 庭田前中納言 [=Niwata Shigeeda 庭田重条 (1650-1725)]; Hachigatsu 八月: Ōikmikado Saki no Udaijin 大炊御門前右大臣 [=Ōikmikado Tsunemitsu 大炊御門経光 (1638-1704)]; Kugatsu 九月: Uramatsu Chūnagon 裏松中納言 [=Uramatsu Norimitsu 裏松意光 (1652-1707)]; Jūgatsu 十月: Higashizono Saki no Chūnagon 東園前中納言 [=Higashizono Motokazu 東園基量 (1653-1710)]; Jūichigatsu 十一月: Udaijin 右大臣 [=Imadegawa Kinnori 今出川公規 (1638-1697)]; Jūnigatsu 十二月: Hyōbukyō no Miya 兵部卿宮 [=Arisugawa no Miya Yukihito Shinnō 有栖川宮幸仁親王 (1656-1699)].
The other 12 illustrations depict scenes from famous Noh plays:
Okina 翁, Takasago 高砂, Tamura 田村, Matsukaze 松風, Dojōji 道成寺, Miwa 三輪, Jinen Koji 自然居士, Futari Shizuka 二人静, Aridōshi 蟻通, Nishikigi 錦木, Shari 舎利, Kureha 呉服.
The manuscript is undated but examination of the dates of the officials recorded as authors indicates the period 1691-1693.
