This item comprises three main pieces:
1) 1 concertina volume with red lacquer covers containing the text of "A treatise on reflection of myself", written by the Qianlong Emperor. In the handwriting of the author, with his seal and signature. Each character is written on brown paper squares of different dimensions pasted together to form the text. The lacquer cover contains two dragons on the front and two dragons on the back. The title carved on the front lacquer cover is composed of five characters: 御笔知过论 (Yu bi zhi guo lun). The item contains imperial large seals including the Sanxi Tang and the Yuan Ming Yuan Treasure seal.
2) 1 red lacquer box. The box repeats the dragon motif of the concertina covers, with the title 御笔知过论 (Yu bi zhi guo lun). The box if formed by two pieces: lid and base.
3) 1 yellow silk wrap embroidered with two dragons and a four peonies motif. The wrap includes a purple silk string which ends with a pin.
