Scope & Content:: The journals document Barber's work and travels, and his social life in India. They describe his extensive tours, surveying the botany and investigating plant diseases. The journals also include his tenure as head of the Agricultural College at Coimbatore from 1908, and his involvement in developing the sugar cane industry in north India. Most of the photographs in the journals were taken by Barber using an early Leica camera, and he developed his own prints. The journals also contain maps, plans and drawings by Barber, as well as newspaper cuttings and postcards.
