Hand(s)
Samaritan and Arabic script of the early 18th century; in black and red ink. The name of the scribe is presented differently in several places including the title page, as Abd Yahweh, the Danfi, in majuscule script as Abd Yahweh b. Murjan b. Ishmael, the Danfi and in the colophon as Abd Allah ibn Murjan ibn Ibrahim ibn Ismail.
Decoration
Additions:Ff. 128-130 are 19th-century insertions by Pinhas ben Isaac.
Binding
Post-1600; hybrid of an original Islamic flap-binding with a tail band and a reinforced spine and European tooling. Title in Arabic on the front cover.
Title on spine: 'Passover Services. Samaritan. Brit. Mus. OR. 5037.'

Origin: 1705-1706 West Bank (Shechem/Nablus)Provenance and Acquisition
Joseph-Ange Durighello (d 1924): French collector and dealer: according to the Arabic note on f. 126v, he bought the manuscript from the Samaritans in 1893 (see Crown).
Acquisition note on back pastedown: 'Bought of J. A. Durighello, June 23, 1896' date of accession July 1896.
