Crown: "3416 after the settlement (AS) in Canaan. On the basis that 3385 AS = 1900, the equivalent Christian date must be 1931."

Colophon: A tashqil in Deuteronomy gives the date 3416 after the conquest of Canaan (למושב בני ישראל ארץ כנען), and the name of the scribe.

Collation

Sheets up to sheet 8 carry an Arabic numeral as a signature mark at the top of the first column of each sheet.

Condition

usage stains, glue stains, folding lines.

The bottom of sheet 14 and the adjoining sheets have been repaired with parts of a calendar.

Samaritan majuscule script of the 20th century. Scribe: Salama b. Amram b. Salama b. Hassebhi/ Tabya b. Isaac, the Levitical priest in Shechem. According to Crown there is a second hand from sheet 8.

Moses Gaster (b. 1856, d. 1939), scholar and rabbi: his manuscript, Cod. G. 1700; purchased by the British Museum from him on 12 April, 1924.
