Dīvān-i Khaṭā’ī - ديوان خطائى
- Scope & Content:
-
The Divan of Khaṭā’ī (Xətai/Hatai), the mahlas of Safavid Shah Ismail I.
The manuscript begins with an inscription written in white on a gold background, followed by a masnavi on the exhortations of religious life called the Nasihatname (ff. 2v-10r); ghazals of a partly erotic, partly religious nature (ff. 10r-83r).
The takhallus of the royal poet is written in gold wherever it occurs.
A distinctive feature of the dialect used is the substitution of kh for q in such words as yokh for yoq, khamu for qamu, chikhir for chiqar.
Some leaves are transposed and a few are lost.
This manuscript was likely copied in the 16th century CE.
