Vol. XI of Cole’s Collections, bearing the following title: ‘An exact copy of a MS Visitation of Cambridgeshire in 1619, belonging to the Library of Gonville & Caius College in Cambridge, numbered 542. 1240. To which are added several Pedigrees I transcribed from some MS in the Heralds’ Office [chiefly from the Cambridgeshire Visitation for 1684], at the Chambers of the late Mr Warburton, Somerset Herald. Also a few added from a MS of Pedigrees in Cambridgeshire wrote in the hand of Mr Layer of Shepereth [Shepreth], and now in the possession of Sir John Hinde Cotton of Madingley, Baronet, who gave the said MS to me in 1763, but upon my comparing tit with this in Caius College, I found them to be the same, and only a few new ones, which I have here transcribed, & collate the whole, and corrected the one with the other.’
The arms of the several families are emblasoned throughout, and the pedigrees often accompanied by notes and memoranda, by Mr Cole, who has added at the commencement of the volume an alphabetical Index of Names.
