7. Copy of a manuscript journal or diary, titled ‘Providence improved’, written by the Reverend Edward Burghall, Vicar of Acton in Cheshire, from 1628 to 1663, transcribed from the original lent to Mr. Cole by the Reverend John Allen of Torporley in 1777. It chiefly relates to the Civil War in Cheshire and parts adjacent. Mr. Cole has added a few notes, and prefixed some remarks on the author, together with the Arms emblazoned of Chester County, Trinity College, and John Allen. He has also annexed to it an alphabetical index of Names and Places. (pages 105-142).
8. Address from the Roman Catholics of England to the King on the rebellion of the American Colonists. (From the Public Ledger, 4 May 1778). (pages 143-145).

See in another of Cole’s Volumes (MS add 5885) a List of the Cambridge Bachelors of Arts from AD 1500 to AD 1716 inclusive, which united to the preceding lists makes them complete from AD 1500 to AD 1775..

With the Arms emblazoned of each individual. Copied form a volume lent to Mr. Cole by Mr. knight, Rector of Milton in 1779. Mr. Cole has prefixed, as usual, some remarks on the manuscript and the Arms in trick, of:

Cole has collated his transcript with another manuscript copy lent him by Dr. Farmer, and noted the differences. The last Peer mentioned in the manuscript in Frederick, Lord Wyndersore.
At the end of the volume are inserted two original notes to Mr. Cole, one from Sir. J. H. Cotton of Madingley, the other from Mr. Ward. Dated Quy, 19 October 1777. (page 438).
