- Title:
- Transcripts of abstracts of 2 Monastic Cartularies
- Scope & Content:
-
A thin folio volume (73 folios and 47 folios) containing, in a neat modern hand, transcripts of the two following valuable abstracts of Monastic Cartularies:
1. ‘Ex Registro per amplo et perauti quo Cartarum in Ecclesiæ X ti C ntuar in ejusdem Ecclesiæ Thesaurarua reservato, unde sequential mann Dni. Eduardi Dering Militis et Baronetti, transcripta; calamo Oliveri Marshall, Cantabrigiensis, rescripta sunt, AD 1630’. (folios 1-73)
2. ‘Chartularium abbatiæ de Beigham in mann Dni. Robti. Cotton mi. et Barti. In quarto, mann Dni. Edw. Dering Mil. et Bart. transcriptum, et deinde ipsius cura sumptuq. rescriptum, Ao 1627’. (folios 1-47)
The original manuscript in the Cotton Library, is marked Otho A II, and was partly destroyed in the fire of 1731. It seems to have been imperfect at the commencement when this abstract was made, for it begins only with the 22nd charter, otherwise a portion of the later has been lost.
