A folio volume, pp. XLIX, ff. 864, of the collections of Gervase Holles, esquire, of Grimesby, in the county of Lincolnshire, a colonel in the service of King Charles I. These collections relate to the principal families in the above county, and contain transcripts and excerpts of public records, pedigrees, extracts from cartularies, etc., transcribed by Holles himself, and others, in 1642. Six more volumes of similar collections exist among the Lansdowne Manuscripts no. 207 (a-f). The contents of the present volume, entitled ‘Trusbut’ are as follows:

Inserted at the beginning and close of this volume are two vellum sheets, on which are emblazoned the shield of Holles’s quarterings, impaling those of Molesworth, pp. XLIX * 844, at p. *342. Has also been inserted, by a recent hand, the copy of a monumental inscription in the chapel of the nunnery of Benedictines at Louvain, on William Moor of Lincolnshire. Prefixed is an alphabetical index of proper names in the handwriting of Gervase Holles, pp. VI-XLVII, and an abstract of the contents of the volume, pp. II-V, in the writing of Sir Joseph Banks, baronet (to whom the manuscript subsequently belonged), who has also added at the end an Index Villarum. pp. 847-858.
