One of three volumes [with 6321 and 6322] in folio of 52 folios being collections relating to the History of the Order of the Garter; made by and principally (with the exception of the Printed articles) in the handwriting of Mrs Sarah Sophia Banks.

1. Original Note from Mr Towneley to Sir Joseph Banks, Bar[one]t sending for his perusal a MS containing the draughts of the coluored effigies of the first Knights of the Garter, intended to have been set up in the church at Stamford, at the costs of Sir William Bruges, Garter King at Arms. Dated 2 May, (1806). Folio 1b. This MS formerly belonged to Ashmole, who engraved from it the portraitures of the Knights, ‘Institution of the Garter’. Page 642. Folio 1672.

Extract from a MS at Strawberry Hill, containing lists and Arms of the Knights of the Garter, temp [during the time of the reign of King] Richard III [1483-1485] and Henry VII [1485-1509] emblasoned on Vellum by Sir Gilbert Dethick Knight and presented to Queen Elizabeth, in 1573. 5. Extracts and Memoranda relating to the “Little George”, the Ribbon of the Order, etc. folios 6-8.6. Description and observations on a Procession of the Knights of the Garter, 1584 copied by Vertue from an original of Mare Garrard, with coloured drawings of two of the Knights (Philip, King of Spain, and Manuel, Duke of Savoy). Folios 9-12. Ashmole engraved this Procession in his ‘Institution of the Garter’, page 515, but with variations, and in a reduced size.
