The 9th of 19 volumes which comprise the Collections towards a History of Sussex made by the Reverend William Hayley, Rector of Brightling, and form an excellent supplement to Sir William Burrell’s collection for the same county.

1. Copies of original charters in the possession of John Nicoll of Mundfield [Mountfield] esquire, 1764, relative to the lands in Mundefeud, alias Mondefeld, or Montfeld. (pages 1-14)
2. Copy of Henry VIII’s grant of St. Pancrase in Southover, near Lewes, and of Castle Acre in Norfolk, with the advowsons and lands belonging thereto, in the counties of Sussex, Norfolk, Suffolk, Kent, Surrey, Essex, Hertfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Middlesex, Wiltshire, Devon, Leicestershire, Lincolnshire, and Yorkshire, to Thomas, Lord Cromwell, Keeper of the Privy Seal. 4. Copy of a charter of Ralph [de Luffa], Bishop of Chichester, confirming the possessions of Lewes Priory, Dated ao. 1121, taken from a transcript made from MS. Cott. Vitel, E. x. 27. Subjoined is the copy of a note from John Elliot to the Reverend Mr. Austen, sending the transcript. Dated 14 February 1774. (pages 43-46)
