The 12th of 19 volumes which comprise the Collections towards a History of Sussex made by the Reverend William Hayley, Rector of Brightling, and form an excellent supplement to Sir William Burrell’s collection for the same county.
A volume in quarto (93 folios), containing:
1 Extracts from Domesday Book, relating to lands in the county of Sussex, copied by Mr. Hayley from a transcript belonging to John Fuller of Rosehill esquire, 1783. (folios 1-46b)
2. Tabular arrangement of Domesday Book, relating to lands in the counties of Kent, Surrey, Herefordshire, Shropshire, Warwickshire, and Staffordshire, with names of the holders, hundreds, value etc. and a few extracts. (folios 47-92)
3. Some memoranda concerning the entries in Domesday Book which relate to the Rape of Hastings, etc. (folios 92b-93)
