A volume in quarto (94 folios), consisting of miscellaneous papers, viz.
1. An alphabetical index of rectories and vicarages in Kent, in the handwriting of Edward Rowe Mores, esquire. (folio 1-7b)
2a. ‘A perfect note of all the Lands, Demises, Tenants Rents, rent dayes, Tymes of Demise, of Continuance, etc. made anno domini 1603. December 17th, for the Queenes Colledge in Oxonford’. (folios 10-29)
2b. Statement of expenses of establishment of Fellows, Chaplains, Clerks, Servants, etc., in Queen’s College, Oxford, with the daily allowances of provisions, etc. (folios 30-35)
2c. Later memoranda relating to the possessions of Queen’s College. (folios 36, 36b)On the first leaf of this article is written ‘February 1 1655. This booke was found amongst ye papers of my brother Roger Smith, deceased, and in all probability he had it out of Mr. Cape’s studdy of books, which he had bought not long before his death. Sam Smith’.Both this and the preceding article were found loose in a volume of Dr. Ducarel’s transcripts from the Lambeth Registers, purchased at Mr. Gough’s sale, in 1810.
3. ‘Hortulus R.P. Walafridi Strabi, Germani, ex Decano monasterii S. Galli create abbatio angiæ Divitis, dicatus honori Grimaldi, coenobiarchæ ad S. Galli. Ita Philurea P.P. Collegiorum que Principis et Pauliniani Præpositus, cum hunc Hortulum Lipsiæ ederet, inscribere voluit’. (folios 39-43)This article came to the Museum with Baron Moll’s collection of printed book in 1815.
4-12. Letters of Francis Atterbury (afterwards Bishop of Rochester) which have been moved from this volume, and added on to other letters by him, found in Add MS 5144. May 1849.
13. Sonnet in Italian, addressed to HRH the Prince Regent, on the extinction of the Tyrannical Government in France, by Leucippo Eginèo, P.A. (Supposed by Ayscough to be Lewis de Sastres [Luigi di Sastres], the Sicilian Consul). Dated London, 25 April 1814. (folio 44) Presented by the Author.
14. Mathematical demonstration of the number of stops to be wheeled by the Regulating Company in a change of position from Line and Column by the Echelon Movement, in the handwriting of the Right Honourable William Pitt, when Colonel of the Cinque Ports Volunteers. Prefixed is a memorandum respecting the paper by Charles Hunt Dillon, Lieutenant Colonel of the Cinque Port Volunteers, 1804. (folio 46)
