2. Letter from Henry Dalrymple and James Murray to James [Douglas], Duke of [Queensbury]. Relative to an interview with the Duke of Hamilton [James Hamilton] touching the establishment of the Trading Company (at Darien). Dated Edinburgh, 12 December 1699. (folios 3, 4)
3. Memoir of the proceedings of the Duke of Hamilton and his party, at the assembling of the Parliament in Edinburgh by the Duke of Queensbury, the Queen’s Lord High Commissioner. Dated 11 June 1702. (folios 5, 6)
4. Letter from Robert Pringle to the Duke of (Queensbury), Proceedings in the Scottish Parliament, and political reports. Dated Whitehall, 2 July 1702. (folio 7)
5. Letter to the Duke of (Queensbury), relative to an act of Indemnity, and the General Assemblies. Dated Edinburgh, 16 March 1703. (folios 9-10b) This letter is written in the same hand as article 1, but is not signed. It is however indorsed thus: ‘Philiphaugh, abt. Indemnity and Meetings of ye Assembly’.
6. Opinion signed by several Scottish Peers and others, that the Queen’s Commissioner (the Duke of Queensbury), should allow a proposal to be made in the Scottish Parliament, that after the Queen’s death, no person should be capable of being Sovereign of both Kingdoms of Scotland and England, unless a free communication of Trade in favour of the former should be established.
