1. ‘Acuerdos del Emperador Carlos Quinto para su hijo Don Philippe, Rey de Castilla, hechos in Augusta, 18 de Enero, del año de 1548’ ff. 1-16v.
2. A paper in Spanish on the affairs of the Low Countries in the reign of Philip, written apparently about 1590. The author was brother in law of the Conde de la Roca, Governor of Utrecht. At the end have been the signatures of Mansfeldt, Gilles du Jung (?), but they have been struck out by the pen. ff. 17-33.
3. Another memoir in Italian, drawn up (by M. de Champoigny?) apparently in 1596 [cataloguer’s pencil note ‘3?’], on the proceedings of the Prince of Orange, and the disturbances on account of religion at Besançon. ff. 34-39v.
4. Letter from Fray Fernando de Caballos to the General of his Order (Jesuit?), on the disorders in Flanders among the Religious. Dat. Colonia, 10 Nov. 1591 (Spanish). ff. 40*, 40.
5. Order of the Duke of Parma (Alessandro Farnese), Governor of the Low Countries, to Señor Gabriel de Sanctistevani, Treasurer General, stating that during his absence in France the Conde Ernesto de Mansfelt had been appointed in his place, and that the orders of the latter should be equally respected. Dat. Brusselas, 24 Nov. 1591 (Spanish). fol. 41.
6. Discurso delo que a hecho el Exercito de sa Magd. [Philip II] en este Reymo de Francia, despues q. te tomo la Villa de Noyon’. It is indorsed thus: ‘Discours de ceque se passe pendant le sejour du Conte Charles en France, despuis la mort du Ducq de Parme. Receu le 12e. de Sept. 1593’. ff. 42-44v.
7. ‘Copia, sacada del Libro del Tribunal, en la Villa de Anvers, die ult. Sept. 1583. El Escotele nomine officii Actor, contro Mrē Pablo de Tiera, preso y defensor’. The defendant, who was a Magistrate of Antwerp, was accused of corresponding with the enemy and condemned to confinement for four years. Adjoined are copies of a Letter from the King to the Duke of Parma, dat. 13 Sept. 1591, and the Duke’s Answer, dat. 25 June 1592, relative to some recompenses to be granted him for his sufferings. ff. 45, 46.
