1. Ex Jo. Lelandi Comment. de Scriptt. Britannicis, de Nennio, de Samuele, Britanno, et de Elbado. ff. 1-2v.

The introductory Preface, Apology, list of chapters, and chronological data, forming chapter 1 are copied from Gale’s edition in the XV Scriptores, folio, 1691, vol. 3, collated with Bertram’s edition, duodecimo, Havn, 1758/ The remaining body of the work is transcribed from some manuscript not specified (but which much resembles the text in the manuscript in the Public Library Cambridge, no. 247, transcribed for Sir Simon D’Ewes in Harley MS 624); collated with the editions of Gale and Bertram, and accompanied also by a transcript of the whole of Gale’s notes. The tract de Mirabilibus Britanniæ omitted in the edition is annexed.

The present text is copied from none of these, but agrees closely with that in the Royal MS.
