Condition

Severe iron gall ink corrosion, in many cases, the paper inside square letters has fallen out. Earlier repairs.

Italian Hebrew cursive and square script of the 16th century. Scribe: David ben Isaac of Urbino.

Provenance and Acquisition

Ownership inscription(?) by a monk(?) on f. 12v in very cursive script in Italian, dated 1687: '... p. me fra d'ordo dell...'

Black oval stamp with a coat of arms on f. 12v.

Ownership inscription(?) on f. 13v in Italian: 'Io ho Buenuto Pauli 27 Abon conto ...nando per pagare al fine di marzo del miledue cento nauntaduno (novantuno?) - Io Consolini ...'

Moses Gaster (b. 1856, d. 1939), scholar and rabbi: his manuscript, Cod. G. 411; purchased by the British Museum from him on 12 April, 1924; date of accession 26 March 1928.
