M. Gaster's note on the verso: 'Brought for me from Cairo, presented to my by Bensala(?) 14. v. 819 Manchester' (probably 14 May 1899).
Moses Gaster (b. 1856, d. 1939), scholar and rabbi: his manuscript, Cod. G. 1686; purchased by the British Museum from him on 12 April, 1924.
