Language(s): PersianTitle: Sharḥ-i Tuḥfat al-ʿIrāqaynUntitled commentary or sharḥ by a certain ʿAbd al-Salām, named more extensively in the colophon as Shaykh ʿAbd al-Salām Lāhawrī, on the famous mas̲navī entitled Tuḥfat al-ʿIrāqayn by Afz̤al al-Dīn Ibrāhīm ibn ʿAlī Najjār Shīrvānī takhalluṣ Khāqānī(d. 595/1199), the poet at the court of the rulers of Shīrvān.
The work was composed over the course of fifteen days at Lahore, in the twentieth regnal year of Timurid (Mughal) Emperor Shāh Jahān I, 1057/1647 at the suggestion of Shaykh ʿAbd al-Kabīraccording to the preface (ff. 1v-6v), followed by the main work.
Dated colophon (f. 96r): completed for Ghulām ʿAlī ibn Sayyid Fayrūz at dār al-khilāfah Shāhjahānābād, 5 Jumādá al-S̲ānī in RY 37 of Emperor ʿĀlamgīr I, 1105 (figures overwritten)/1 February 1694.
Scribal nastaʿlīq.
Occasional annotations in margins.
Foliated in Persian and separately by pencil.
Folios rebound in IOL red half leather covers (stamp dated 27 Nov 1924); stained, creasing, warping, cropped, wormholes, later repairs, glazed with gauze overlay.
Condition poor.
At the end is mounted a fragment from a letter (f. 97).
