The supplement or codicil to the Vakfiye of Meḥemmed ‘Alī, stipulating that revenues from property in Thasos be used to support the school for boys which he had established at Kavala in northern Greece. The Zeyl was completed and witnessed on 11 Rebī’ ül-ahir 1232/28 February 1817 (see f. 6v); the names of the witnesses are given on 7r. For the original vakfiye, see Or. 16280.
The text of the deed itself is preceded by an eight-line heading written in Arabic rhymed prose by the local official responsible for overseeing evkaf. There are three lines of siyakat script below the colophon inscription, including the date 1232/1816-17. The benefactor is named on f. 3v, after numerous honorific epithets, as Gazi el-Hacc Meḥemmed ''Ali Pasa.
Copied by Mustafà Vāṣif Efendi, royal scribe and türbedar of Sultan ''Abd-ül-Hamid Han I (reg. 1187-1203/1774-89). Dated Galata, Istanbul, 1232/1817.Text in cloudbands against a gilt background. 15 lines. Text frames: gold (wide) and black. Ornate rococo illuminated heading, f. 1v; gilt arabesque margin decoration, 1v-2r. Fine phrase markers in colours and gold, 1v-2r. Rather thin and slightly brittle beige paper. Slight worm damage, chiefly in margins.
