Sefardi Provençal Hebrew square script of the 18th century; vocalised. Main scribe: Gad ben Imanuel de Millau(?); scribe adding the menorah with the owners' names (Israel Cohen and his wife Rivka) is Meir ben Eliezer.

Ownership inscription in the shape of a menorah on f. 161v, dated 5552 AM (1791/2 CE): לעולם יכתוב אדם שמו על ספרו שמא יבוא אדם מן השוק ואומר זה הספר שלי לפיכך כתבתי את שמי ישראל ב"ר אליהו כהן שנת התקנ"ב ... רבקה אשת של ישראל כהן ... ... נעשה על ידי הבחור מאיר בר אליעזר דקאווליאון.

Ownership inscription on front flyleaf (ii)r: 'Jasse de Lisbone'.

Moses Gaster (b. 1856, d. 1939), scholar and rabbi: his manuscript, Cod. G. 166; purchased by the British Museum from him on 12 April, 1924; date of accession 3 October 1927.
