The author, who was one of the Jews who were expelled from Spain and Portugal, delivered sermons in Saloniki to various audiences between the years 5260-5264 (from 1499 and 1504), in Amasya in 5265 (in 1504/5), and in Damascus between the years 5266-5283 (from 1505 to 1522/3).
The homilies are not in chronological order; arranged according to parashiyot.
At the end of his homilies the author mentions the purpose of the homily and the name of the deceased person eulogised, while also mentioning the name of the place and the year.

F. 3v: ואני משביע בשם יתברך לכל מי שקורא או יעיין בזה הספר של יגנוב ולא יסיר ממנו שום דרוש או קונטריס אלא אם ירצא להעתיק אותו דרוש או קונטריס יעתיק אותו ויזכיר שמי בו. וזה לסבה כדי שיהיו נמצאים כל אלו הדרושים ביחד ולא יתפזרו אחד הנה ואחד הנה... .
The author delivered eulogies for various sages in Saloniki, among them are: Rabbi Samuel Abravanel in 5264 (in 1503/4) (ff. 19v-22v); Rabbi Jacob ben Solomon Ibn Ḥabib in 5278 (in 1517/18) (146r-147v); Rabbi Samuel Franḳo (שמואל פראנקו) in 5261 (in 1500/1) (205r-211v).
In Damascus: Rabbi Mosheh Portugali, in the year 5271 (in 1510/1) (95r-96v); Rabbi Avraham Ashiʾash (אברהם אשיאש) in 5272 (in 1511/2) (ff. 108r-112v); Rabbi Yizhak Abudirham, in 5274 (in 1513/4) (ff. 152r-154r); Rabbi Yosef Hamon in 5278 (in 1517/8) (ff. 218v-221v); Rabbi Avraham di Molina in the 5279 (in 1518/9) (ff. 234v-236v); Rabbi Yosef Saragossi (יוספ סראקוסי, deceased in Safed) in 5267 (in 1506/7) (ff. 66r-68r); Rabbi Avraham Besodo (אברהם ביסודו, deceased in Ein Zaytun) in 5269 (in 1508/9) (ff. 70r-73r); Rabbi Avraham Abzaradel (אברהם אבזראדיל, deceased in Jerusalem) in 5283 (in 1522/3) (ff. 101v-102r); Rabbi Mosheh Alfaraji (משה אלפריגי, deceased in Jerusalem) 5271 (in 1510/11) (ff. 107r-107v).
Mentions the persecution of the Jews in Safed on f. 150v: אני יוספ בן לאדוני ומהר' מאיר גרסון זצ"ל דרשתיהו בכאן בדמשק בשנת עזר"ה בצרות נמצא מאד על עניי צפת ששללום ובוזזום הישמעאל' תושבי הארץ על לא חמס בכפיהם ונהרגו יהודים וענו נשים ונהרגו קטנים. והיה זה המאורע בזו השנה הנזכרת שבא המלך שלטן שלם מלך תוגרמה וכבש זה המלכות של מצרים....
Rabbi Garson collected his sermons years after their delivery: על כן אני הצעיר ... מכיר אני בעצמי כי אני בעל שכחה ומה שאני אומר היום למחר אני שוכח ... ושמתי בכתב אותם הדרושים שדרשתי אחרה גרוש המר והמהר דרוש ספרד כדי שיהיו לי לזכירה ולא יאבדו ממני... (f. 2v). Autograph.
