This government archive mainly comprises British proofs for postage stamps, postal stationery and revenue stamps (both embossed and adhesive). It includes registration material from 1694-1971, as well as large numbers of plate proof sheets in black for Great Britain and India postage and revenue stamps, as well as Great Britain stamps overprinted for use in other territories in proof and issued form. The HM Treasury paper Money notes first issued in 1914 are held in registration sheets. The archive also includes three stamp embossing machines.
