Scope & Content:

An account of the siege of Kandia, Crete in 1080/1669-70 by an unknown author. The manuscript opens with :

Makale-yi hikayat ya Girmit Sefer-i Kandia bir ay merhum Vezir-i Azim Köprülüzade Fazıl Ahmet Paşa yusirr Allah ma yuşa'

Folios 49v-50r consists of an inventory of booty seized from the Castle of Kandia, as well as the number of fatalities among both the Ottoman forces (broken down according to rank and occupation) and among the Christian defenders of Kandia (occasionally accounted according to body parts collected), Muslims rescued from Christian captors, and the extend of damage to infrastructure in the city.

A partially obliterated inscription in black ink on 1r bears the words "Mehmet Hamdullah ... Mustafa ... sene 1229".

There is one ornate unvan on 1v consisting of a gold-leaf medallion and floral decorations in orange, mauve and pink ink.

Binding : Original red Morocco binding with stamped edges and circular designs, as well as gold-leaf stamped cartouches on the covers and a smaller cartouche on the flap. The binding is in a poor state and the front board and flap have separated from the rest of the work.
