Colophon in red ink: 崇禎九年八月吉旦 靜心書寫戒弟子 [Written by a disciple in a calm and peaceful state of mind on the first day of the 8th month of Chongzhen 9th year (1639)]
The manuscript is a volume of the Etiquette of Yogacara Offering Service and includes sutras, mantras, and mudras (hand gestures) with illustrations. There are also reading marks and other punctuation in red and notes added in another hand in black. This Buddhist service is to offer food to hungry souls in hell. This volume is used for daily chanting practice, as indicated by a slip with ke song ri yong 課頌日用 pasted under the title on the 2nd folio.
