Half-bound, with leather spine, green paper covers and with marble paper pastedowns. Boxed.

M. Gaster's label on spine: '990 קסת יהונתן דרושים פזת(?) ר' יונתן ור' יוסף שטיינהרט'.

Origin: 1700-1799 18th century, probably 1760s. France

Provenance and Acquisition

Ownership inscriptions by Istiḳ of Püttlingen: איצק יצ"ו מפיטליגן (f. 1v); by Aaron Phalsbourg: אהרן פאלסבורג פה פיטליגן (ff. 2r, 2v); by Aaron ben Yodil אהרן יצ"ו בן ... יודיל (ff. 46v, 92r, etc.), יודל פאלסבורג (f. 130v). More ownership inscriptions in very cursive script on f. 93v.

List of loans of the manuscript by Liberman ben Zeligman and others (ליברמן בלא"א זליגמן)(according to NLI catalogue, but not found by present cataloguer).

Moses Gaster (b. 1856, d. 1939), scholar and rabbi: his manuscript, Cod. G. 990; purchased by the British Museum from him on 12 April, 1924; date of accession 16 April 1931.
