The album contains 100 portraits of various figures, including emperors, empresses, officers, and several other people depicted in their working life. The title of each role is written on the lower-right corner and a few of them with a Chinese number in the front.
The section of the emperors and empresses starts specifically with Pangu 盤古, Yu the Great 大禹 and King Wen of Zhou 周文王 and continues with emperors and empresses of the Han, Tang, and Qing dynasties.
The job titles of officers include General Officer and Grand Chancellor. In some cases, his wife is depicted in the following portrait.
The types of careers depicted are various, and include famous individuals such as Cangjie 倉頡, Confucius 孔子, and others.
All the folios are in the original silk box which has a slip with the title pasted on the left side of the front.
There are 6 additional folios with the list of the descriptions, in a previous foliation order encapsulated in melinex. [The British Museum Library foliation does not follow the Chinese numbers on the portraits].
