Watercolour drawing album of views of the river-side in the inner passage from Canton (now Guangzhou, China) to Macao (now Aomen, China) probably by a European artist.
The album includes a list of titles (6 folios), images of landscapes (59 folios), hand-drawn maps (7 folios), and a few note slips. Most folios are pasted on paper, and all the papers then bound in Western binding.
The format of the watercolour paintings of the landscape include: the Chinese title at the bottom with transliteration written in pencil; English title or description on the left-hand side; direction description (in a Chinese orientation system) on the right-hand side.
The topic of the scenes include tribes, temples, memorial arches, artillery batteries, military camps, and piers.
The covers are in a honeycomb pattern with a special mark in each hole. One kraft paper title slip was pasted across the binding side.
