The full name of the Dhāraṇī is 千手千眼觀世音菩薩廣大圓滿無礙大悲心陀羅尼經大悲神咒 which is also know as 大悲心陀羅尼 (Skt: Mahā Karuṇā-citta Dhāraṇī) or 大悲咒 (Skt: Mahā Karuṇā Dhāraṇī).
The Dhāraṇī belongs to the Avalokiteśvara Bodhisattva, the Bodhisattva of Great Compassion, who is traditionally believed to listen to the voices of sentient beings and to rescue them from suffering.
The manuscript records the Dhāraṇī, giving also an interpretation and explanation of the text.
The total number of folios is 6 but a few sheets of paper were added to the volume for binding.
The title is written on a red slip and pasted onto another slip on the original cover.
One hand-written note at the end of the volume reports: Bought of Mrs. Bushell on Apr. 3, 1909.
