Ṣad dar صد در
attributed to Īrānshāh ibn Malikshāh ایرانشاه ابن ملکشاه
- Scope & Content:
-
The Ṣad dar (صد در) attributed to Īrānshāh ibn Malikshāh (ایرانشاه ابن ملکشاه). A popular version of the 100 Zoroastrian rules composed in Persian verse in Kerman in 1494 (14 Muharram 900 AH) at the request of Shahriyār ibn Ardashīr ibn Bahrāmshāh.
Copied by the Rev. John Haddon Hindley (1765-1827) from an original copied, according to the colophon (f. 211v), by Hurmuzyār ibn Farāmarz ibn Qiyāmdīn ibn Kayqubād called Sanjānah and dated on the day Srosh, in the month of Ardibihisht, in the year 1043 of the Yazdagird Shahriyari era (1764). This would appear to be Thomas Hyde’s copy, Royal MS 16 B VII.
The text has been copied on the upper part of each page with Hindley’s Latin translation beneath. Hindley’s translation is based on, but not identical to, Hyde’s translation published in his Historia religionis veterum Persarum… (Oxonii, 1700).
