The manuscript contains considerable illumination in the guide to the Gospels, as well as in the headers of each of the sections of the text. The primary motif of the illumination is interlaced bands in red, yellow, green and navy blue. Each of the Gospels contains a cloth finger tab along the outer rim of the first page.
The manuscript was copied by Iywanis, a priest and monk at the Ethiopian and Egyptian Mar Ya''qub Monastery on the side of the holy mountain, Turabidin, in the month of Kanun Qadim, 1787 of the Greek calendar (1475 CE).
